Rise & Shine!

For this campaign, I created a brand identity for the Rise and Shine Massachusetts initiative, a statewide coalition advocating for state legislation that increases equitable access and participation in school breakfast for thousands of low-income children across the Commonwealth. In choosing colors for the logo, I wanted to exemplify the brand colors of the members of the coalition who were fighting to alleviate childhood hunger and ensure more kids start school with a healthy breakfast.

Among the pieces of campaign collateral designed were info sheets, flyers, a microsite, banners, volunteer shirts and infographics.

On August 2020, amid the pandemic that saw childhood hunger skyrocket to an all-time high, and when schoolchildren who relied on free lunch at school were deprived of those daily meals, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed the Breakfast After The Bell legislation into law. The law requires all high-poverty K-12 Massachusetts public schools to offer breakfast after the instructional day begins. The Rise & Shine Massachusetts coalition was instrumental in advocating for the bill for nearly last three and a half years. Below is a thank you celebratory video produced by a third-party after the bill was passed, using visuals from the brand:
